Wado-Ryu Karate Training Moscow 1996
André De Rijck, commercial attaché at the Belgian Embassy in Moscow, lived in Moscow for many years.
André had a perfect command of the Russian language and was thus naturally integrated into the daily life and population of Moscow.
He founded the Wado-ryu Karate Club of Moscow, with more than 50 members and trained many Russian black belts in Wado-Ryu.
André also translated Master Kamigaito’s Karate manuals, Kihon, volume 2 and Pin-An katas, volume 3 into Russian.
He was remarried to Nadezhda with whom he had a daughter.
He died prematurely on May 1, 2021.

In 1996, his club was growing rapidly and he invited his Belgian friends for a few days in Moscow in 1996. It was Jean-Maurice Huard, the successor of Kamigaito Yoshikazu Sensei, who led the lessons there.
This video shows a nice cultural exchange between Russian and Belgian Karatekas.
The “tourist” part has been kept in this video because it is also a simple testimony of the opening of Russia in 1996.
But what can we say today, on 9 December 2022, round thirty years later?
The light is going out in Ukraine, but it is dark in Moscow.
The heat is disappearing in Ukraine, but it is in Moscow that hearts are freezing.
Will the universal Christmas message of peace “Peace on earth to men of good will” be heard in this majestic Kremlin?
But let us be clear: such a “special operation” carried out on the territory of an independent country like Ukraine has no place in our world.
Let’s hope that Russia, its leaders and its people decide together to stop this “special operation” soon.

Ook demonstratie van Kata Kushanku door leden van de Samoerai Karate Club Leuven ( leraar Luc Galmart, leden Jean-Pierre Vansina en Xavier Wispenninckx). Ook demonstratie van Sanchin Kata door Kamigaito Yoshikazu Sensei. Een van de hoekscheidsrechters was de heer Raymond DAGRAIN verantwoordelijk voor de afdeling Karaté bij de FTAM ( Fédération Travailliste des Arts Martiaux ). Kamigaito Sensei heeft veel les gegeven in verschillende clubs van de FTAM in Wallonië.

Wado-Ryu Shiai en Katas wedstrijd te Visé in het jaar 1989 met Kamigaito Yoshikazu Sensei. Deze werd georganiseerd door de ASBL Wado Kamigaito België VZW en kreeg de naam ” Kampioenschap van de Hoop”. Dit soort competitie werd elk jaar georganiseerd tussen ronde 75-95.
De wedstrijd van 1989 was zeer speciaal omdat het met een uitgenodigde Japanse ploeg was gecoacht door Hada Sensei en Yanagawa Sensei.

afterwards during a lot of years he follows Wado-Ryu with Yoshikazu Kamigaito Sensei
Claude Tassin had also a lot of experience in self-defense techniques and he was also a professional security guard.

Wado-Ryu training under the direction of Jocelyn Jacquemin
Jocelyn Jacquemin was a student at the Wadokan Wado-Ryu Club in Nalinnes Belgium under the direction of Claude Tassin.
Jocelyn Jacquemin participates frequently to lessons with Yoshikazu Kamigaito Sensei in Belgium in his club and also on specials saturday trainings in Korbeek-Lo.
Now he is living since several years in Japan and still practise Wado-Ryu Karate in japanese clubs.
He comes regulary back in Belgium and is Technical Director of the JKF Wadokai Shinbujuku – Belgium

Herinnering aan Yakusoku Kumite
Yaku Soku Kumites zijn een stap naar de werkelijkheid; zij passen de kennis en gewoonten toe die zijn verworven door de beoefening van Kihon en Katas. Aan fijne bewegingen wordt meer belang gehecht of, met andere woorden, Yaku Soku Kumites legt de nadruk op de bewegingen van de ledematen (bij aanval en verdediging) boven de dynamiek van het lichaam.
Dit deel presenteert systematisch fundamentele Yaku Soku Kumites, wat niet betekent dat ze gemakkelijk zijn; we hebben Yaku Soku Kumites geselecteerd die breed toepasbaar zijn. Beginners houden het bij een exclusieve studie van Ippon Kumites of Tanshiki Kumites*. Het is mogelijk om eindeloze Yaku Soku Kumites te maken, meer of minder efficiënt, maar aangezien deze oefeningen de beoefenaars ervan helpen om een conceptie van karate te smeden, is het belangrijk om alleen die bewegingen te behouden die de hoofdgedachte van de gekozen school belichten; het is noodzakelijk om te vermijden Yaku Soku Kumites van een andere school lichtvaardig aan te passen of om uit het niets Yaku Soku Kumites te creëren door zich te laten leiden door een vage intuïtie. Ongelukkige initiatieven zijn er in overvloed in dit gebied en hebben veel verwoesting veroorzaakt.

Wado-Ryu Karate training Leuven 09-06-2018
These training sessions attempt to perpetuate the teaching of Wado-Ryu karate as introduced to us by Yoshikazu Kamigaito Sensei between 1970 and 1990.
For the training on 09-06-2018, we asked five former students of Yoshikazu Kamigaito Sensei to show us the points they felt were important in their practice of Wado-Ryu karate.
This is, of course, only a snapshot in time, and the videos below will be a good reminder for those taking part.
